Auto-lock: The host can set the lock to auto-lock even after the door is closed. The host can note this in any available instructions about the house. When Auto-Lock is on, you don't need to enter the keypad code to lock the door.
Keyboard one-touch lock: The host can also have the keyboard set to one-touch lock. If yes, when you leave the house, you can just press the red round button to lock the door.
Please check with your host to ensure these features are enabled during your stay.
When making an Airbnb reservation, the Amenities section can indicate whether the listing supports keyless entry. After a reservation is confirmed by the main host, guests receive a welcome email with instructions on how to unlock and lock the door during the reservation period. Check your junk mail if you didn't receive the email in your inbox.
Your access to the home depends on the facility the host uses at the property. There are 3 ways to access an Airbnb using a Yale Smart Lock:
The different home access types are described in the Home Access Types section below.
If the listing doesn't have a keypad or you want to use your phone to unlock the door, you'll need to download the Yale app and link it to your Airbnb account prior to your stay. If the reservation confirmation email includes an access code, you can skip this step and use the property if you prefer.
After a reservation is confirmed by the host, guests receive a welcome email with instructions on how to unlock and lock the door during the reservation period.
1) Access via the app
If the host authorizes access through the app, we'll send an email with instructions on how to install the Yale mobile app, create a Yale account, and connect to the guest's Airbnb account.
The guest can then see the upcoming reservation.
Guest access is valid for the duration of the reservation.
*Guests outside of the United States: When creating an account, it is important that you can receive text messages from within the United States. This is part of the account verification process. If you don't receive text messages during this process, you'll need to make alternate arrangements to access the Airbnb home.
If the host authorizes access through either the app or the Smart Keypad Keypad, the guest has the option to use the access code or the mobile app.
Access via app: Only the primary Airbnb guest gets access automatically. You must send your guests' phone numbers to the host so that the host can grant access to your additional guests.
Keypad access: You can share the personal access code with your travel companions, but it should not be shared with anyone who does not have permission to enter the house.
